Jalili terms talks with EU foreign policy chief in Istanbul, useful

Ankara, Sept 19, IRNA – Iran’s top nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili said on Wednesday that his talks with the EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton held in Istanbul will bring viewpoints of the two sides closer. “The constructive and helpful talks will help bring stances of both parties closer to each other,” said Jalili in an interview with reporters in Istanbul. Commenting on Iran’s proposals to Group 5+1 in Moscow, Jalili said after that round of talks in Moscow, they called for holding technical and expert meetings at level of deputy negotiators for making coordination ahead of formal talks. Jalili said that exploring common grounds ahead of formal talks is useful to prepare the agenda. Commenting on his talks with the Turkish officials on Syria, Jalili said that Syria needs national reconciliation and national platform to resolve the crisis without foreign interference. “We believe only Syrian people can decide their own destiny. Arms and terrorism will not be useful to end the crisis."
