Japan Aiming for Early 3-Way Summit with China, S. Korea: Abe

Brisbane, Australia, Nov. 16 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe voiced his intention Sunday to realize a summit among Japan, China and South Korea at a early date. In talks with reporters in Brisbane after attending a two-day Group of 20 summit that ended the same day, Abe noted that South Korea, which currently has the presidency, appears to be aiming to first set up a meeting of foreign ministers of the three countries and then a tripartite summit. Japan is ready to offer cooperation, he said. Abe added that he conveyed this stance to South Korean President Park Geun-hye when they had unofficial talks in the Australian city on Saturday. No summit among the three Asian countries has been held since May 2012 mainly because Japan's relations with the two neighbors have deteriorated due to history and other issues. END
