Japan allocates $1mn to Azerbaijani agrarian sector

Baku, August 6, AZERTAC The signing ceremony of Notes to be Exchanged and the relevant documents regarding the Non Project Grant Aid for “Provision of Japanese SME’s Products” provided by the government of Japan has been held in Baku. The Note to be exchanged on the project was signed by Ambassador Tsuguo Takahashi on behalf of the Japanese government and by Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov on behalf of the government of Azerbaijan. The main goal of the Non Project Grant Aid scheme is to support the promotion of the economic and social development of developing countries by utilizing the unique efficient and user-friendly technology of Japanese small and medium sized enterprises and the said scheme as a part of ODA programme of the Government of Japan will contribute to the development of agricultural sector of Azerbaijan throughout using the Japanese SME’s advanced technology. The total amount of the Japanese Grant Assistance for this project is 100,000,000 Japanese yen (approximately USD 909,090). Ambassador Takahashi said the grant will aid the development of Azerbaijani agriculture using high-tech materials of Japanese companies. Minister Asadov described the document as a new phase in the relations between Azerbaijan and Japan. "The Japanese government has always supported the development of the agrarian sector in Azerbaijan. I think that this document signed as part of "year of agriculture" will play a key role in renovating the tech-park, developing human resources and increasing the capacity using modern technologies in the agrarian sector. These technologies are manufactured by the large and medium sized Japanese companies.”
