Japan April-June Real GDP Down 1.7 Pct

Tokyo, Aug. 13 (Jiji Press)--Japan's gross domestic product in April-June shrank 1.7 pct from the previous quarter in price-adjusted real terms, the Cabinet Office said in a preliminary report Wednesday. On annualized basis, the country's real GDP dropped 6.8 pct. The annualized figure came against the median forecast of a 7.2 pct decline in a Jiji Press survey of 22 economic research institutes. In nominal terms, April-June GDP fell 0.1 pct from the previous quarter for an annualized decrease of 0.4 pct. END
