Japan donates 10 mln USD for quake-hit Turkish province

ANKARA (A.A) - November 3, 2011 - Japan donated on Thursday 10 million USD for survivors of a massive earthquake that hit the eastern Turkish province of Van. Japan's Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Ryuji Yamane paid a visit to Turkish Science, Industry and Technology Minister Nihat Ergun in Ankara, and handed over the donation. "Turkey sent 32-member team to Japan after March 11th earthquake and extended various assistance, and Japanese government decided to donate 10 million USD for construction of 500 tents and 1,500 prefabricated huts," Yamane said during the meeting. A magnitude-7.2 earthquake jolted the eastern province of Van on October 23, killing 601 people.
