Japan End-Aug. Forex Reserves Up 1,984 M. Dlrs

Tokyo, Sept. 5 (Jiji Press)--Japan's foreign exchange reserves totaled 1,278,011 million dollars at the end of August, up 1,948 million dollars from a month before, the Ministry of Finance said Friday. Of the total, foreign currency-denominated securities stood at 1,196,822 million dollars. Deposits came to 15,191 million dollars. Gold reserves amounted to 31,633 million dollars, and the International Monetary Fund's special drawing rights totaled 19,801 million dollars. END
