Japan Logs No COVID-19 Death for 1st Time in 15 Months

Tokyo, Nov. 7 (Jiji Press)--Japan had no reported case of death linked to novel coronavirus infection for the first time in about 15 months on Sunday. There were 162 newly confirmed infection cases nationwide. The number of severely ill COVID-19 patients stood at 100, unchanged from Saturday. The Tokyo metropolitan government reported 21 new infections, down by one from a week before. The daily figure stood below 30 for the 11th consecutive day. The seven-day average of new cases stood at 20.1 in Tokyo, down 18.3 pct from a week before. The number of severely ill COVID-19 patients under the metropolitan government's standards stood at 12, unchanged from Saturday. In Osaka Prefecture, 39 positive cases were newly confirmed. END
