Japan, Spain Agree on Defense Equipment Cooperation

Tokyo, Nov. 4 (Jiji Press)--Japanese Defense Minister Akinori Eto and his visiting Spanish counterpart Pedro Morenes on Tuesday confirmed the need to expedite bilateral defense equipment-related cooperation. Eto explained Japan's new arms export guidelines adopted in April. In response, Morenes said that defense technology cooperation is also important, adding that Spain wants to promote exchanges between officials in charge from both countries. Eto and Morenes signed a memorandum of understanding for facilitating Japan-Spain defense exchanges, including the launch of regular talks between the two countries' defense ministers. Morenes invited Eto to visit Spain. END
