JICA to Support Indonesia's Irrigation Planning

Jakarta, March 13 (Jiji Press)--The Japan International Cooperation Agency has agreed to help Indonesia compile a long-term strategy for developing and managing irrigation facilities. Government-affiliated JICA said Monday that it signed a record of discussions on the matter on Friday. The technical assistance will be provided in a project that will run from June this year through May 2020. JICA will propose the development of new irrigation facilities, and the rehabilitation and modernization of existing ones as part of the assistance to help the Southeast Asian country strength its food security. The agency will work with the Directorate of Irrigation and Lowland, a division in Indonesia's Ministry of Public Works and Housing. END
