Jobs awaited for Thai evacuees from Libya

BANGKOK, August 7 (TNA) - The Ministry of Labour has prepared some 2,800 job positions for Thai evacuees from violence-plagued Libya. Permanent Secretary for Labour Jirasak Sugandhajati confirmed on Thursday that his ministry's Department of Employment will provide about 2,800 skilled job positions to the Thai evacuees from Libya if they want to earn their living while being in Thailand. Jirasak said the Department of Employment has also prepared systematic labour movement measures after the situation in Libya returns to normal and the Thai evacuees want to return to work in the Mediterranean coastal nation, while those wishing to continue to work in Thailand will be assisted as they demand. According to the senior official, the Department of Employment has continually gathered information on Thai evacuees from Libya and will initially provide them with a financial support of 15,000 baht each, expected to help relieve their difficulties for about one month. Meanwhile, a group of 24 Thai evacuees arrived in Thailand on August 7, followed by 87 and 74 others on August 8 and August 9 respectively. (TNA)
