Johor Hopeful Talks On Reopening M'sia-S'pore Borders To Resume With COVID-19 Vaccination

JOHOR BAHRU (Johor, Malaysia)  March 1 (Bernama) -- Johor is envisioning negotiations on travel arrangements between Malaysia and Singapore, including reopening of borders, following the implementation of the COVID-19 immunisation programme in the country. Johor chief minister Ir Hasni Mohammad said those who received vaccination would be given a certificate as proof that they had been vaccinated. "Opening of borders, the green travel bubble, all other arrangements should be considered upon completion of vaccination," he told reporters at a ceremony before receiving his COVID-19 vaccination at Dewan Muafakat Johor Taman Adda, here Monday. He said this was also taking into account Health Director-General Dr Noor  Hisham Abdullah's statement that the government would only revisit the movement control order (MCO) when 80 per cent of the population has been inoculated. On January 30, Singapore Government suspended the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) with Malaysia for three months starting on Feb 1 following a spike in COVID-19 cases worldwide including Malaysia. At today's ceremony, Hasni was the first recipient of the COVID-19 vaccine at the state level, to be followed by 35,100 frontliners for the first phase of the COVID-19 immunisation programme.             -- BERNAMA
