Joint Qatari Campaign for the Relief of Somali People Launched in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, June 25 (QNA) - Qatar Charity, Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) and Sheikh Eid bin Mohammad Al Thani Charitable Association have launched the joint Qatari campaign for the relief of Somali people. The three foundations hosted a big ceremony at the capital Mogadishu to launch the campaign attended by a number of Somali ministers and ambassadors of Arab and Islamic states. The joint Qatari campaign is the first of its kind in Somalia in terms of services and the number of beneficiaries. The 10 million Qatari Riyals campaign will provide services to more than 200 thousand people in different parts of Somalia. Commenting on the occasion, Somali Minister of Foreign Affairs and Investment Promotion Abdusalam H. Omer expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Qatari people for their continuous support, noting that the joint Qatari campaign for the relief of Somalia comes at a time when part of the Somali people are suffering a lot of problems and difficulties due to disasters. For his part, Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Charity Faisal bin Rashi Alfahidh said that the joint campaign is a strategic comprehensive project that seeks to support and help those affected by natural disasters (droughts and floods) that swept parts of Somalia. He added that the campaign targets nearly 200 thousand people spread over different areas in Somalia. The aid intended to support and improve the standard of living for the affected families, provide free health services, establish income-generating projects and rehabilitate essential facilities in targeted areas, with a budget of 10 million Qatari Riyals.
