Jojug Marjanli hosts conference on Azerbaijan-Russia relationship

Jojug Marjanli, July 2, AZERTAC Co-organized by the International Eurasian Movement, Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh, Russian community of Azerbaijan, and Izborsk Club, a conference titled “Baku-Moscow geopolitical axis. Azerbaijan is Russia’s only partner in the South Caucasus” has been held in Jojug Marjanli village, Jabrayil district. The conference which brought together Azerbaijani and Russian MPs and acclaimed experts aimed to contribute to Azerbaijan-Russia relations as well as the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. In his remarks, head of the Azerbaijan-Russia interparliamentary relations working group Ali Huseynli noted that Jojug Marjanli was occupied by Armenia. He said that security of the village was strengthened last April. Leader of the International Eurasian Movement Alexander Dugin highlighted the birth of an idea to organize the conference on the frontline. Member of Russia’s State Duma Alexey Yezubov described the Nagorno-Karabakh as an integral part of Azerbaijan. He noted that Russia-Azerbaijan friendship and fraternity remain unchanged. Head of the Russian community in Azerbaijan, member of the Azerbaijani Parliament Mikhail Zabelin noted that 120,000 Russians currently live in Azerbaijan. The MP hailed multiculturalism in Russia and Azerbaijan, saying both countries are homes to representatives of different nationalities and religions. Saying he comes from the city of Khojaly, Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani MP Elman Mammadov highlighted the Khojaly genocide. Armenian human rights defended Susan Jaginyan noted the importance of settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, saying the war-torn people living in Armenia feel the pain of the conflict. The second part of the conference focused on “Prospects for settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in the current situation in Armenia”. Member of the Izborsk Club Valery Korovin hailed the rapid development in Azerbaijan, describing this as an indicative of President Ilham Aliyev’s efforts for the prosperity of the Azerbaijani citizens. He described Russia and Azerbaijan as the only reliable partners in the Caucasus. Member of the Russian State Duma Dmitry Savelyev praised the construction of new houses and creation of the state-of-the-art infrastructure in Jojug Marjanli. He expessed his confidence that such conditions will also be created in the districts to be freed from the occupation. MP Savelyev noted the importance of ensuring unconditional return of the Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions. He pointed out that Russia has lost its confidence in Armenia, describing Azerbaijan as Russia's only permanent partner in the Caucasus. Other speakers at the event highlighted the history and the bitter consequences of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
