Jokowi-JK Pair Leading In Papua's Seven Regencies

Jakarta, July 17 (Antara) - The pair of Indonesian presidential candidates, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and Jusuf Kalla (JK), is leading in seven regencies and cities in Papua and received 55 percent of the votes. According to data compiled by Antara on Thurday, the Jokowi-JK duo is leading in seven regencies and cities: Jayapura, Yahukimo, Tolikara, Paniai, Nabire, Intan Jaya, and Deiyai. The Jokowi-JK pair garnered approximately 55 percent of the votes with 96,780 people having voted for the Jokowi-JK duo and 69,220 voted for the presidential and vice presidential candidates, Prabowo Subianto and Hatta Rajasa. Member of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Papua Musa Sombuk stated that not all the KPU centers in the regencies organized the plenary meeting for vote recapitulation. "Hopefully, today, all the KPUs in Papua will go ahead with the plenary meeting. So, on Friday (July 18), the ballot papers will be in Jayapura," he affirmed. The election is contested by the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa pair and the Jokowi-JK duo. According to the KPU, a total of 190,307,134 voters have been registered, which includes 2,038,711 overseas voters, with 486,866 polling stations across the archipelago.
