Jomaa Invites Qatari Businessmen to Invest in Tunisia

Doha, March 18 (QNA) - Tunisian Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa has urged Qatari businessmen to invest in his country and benefit from opportunities in a stable economic and political atmosphere that would ensure the success of ambitious economic projects. Jomaa made the remarks during a meeting between Qatar Chamber and a senior delegation of Tunisian businessmen he is heading on an official visit to Doha. The meeting, held in the presence of HE Minister of Finance Ali Sherif Al-Emadi, discussed a set of issues in reciprocal investment, with the two sides agreeing on the importance of boosting bilateral partnerships between private sectors in both countries. Jomaa said his country used to mainly focus on European investors but has started to pay more attention to Arab investors, noting that his current visit to Doha comes in that frame. For his part, Qatari Businessmen Association Chairman HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassem Al Thani said the Tunisian premier encouraged Qatari businessmen during the meeting as he discussed highly rewarding investment opportunities for both countries in the fields of industry and agriculture. The two sides also agreed to organize a visit for Qatari businessmen to Tunisia in the next two months. HE Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) President Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani said the meeting focused on boosting economic and trade cooperation, adding that the Tunisian side presented some fields and sectors that Qatari businessmen can invest in. He added that the situation is improving in Tunisia as security is stable and economic indicators are starting to rise. "We are optimistic about Tunisian economy and Qatari businessmen are keen on exploring investment opportunities there." (QNA)
