BANGKOK, August 25 (TNA) - Army and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha has been officially appointed as Thailand's 29th Prime Minister in a Royal Command. General Prayuth received the Royal Command for his appointment as the interim prime minister, presented by National Legislative Assembly (NLA) President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, at the Royal Thai Army headquarters in Bangkok on Monday morning. His wife, Associated Professor Naraporn Chan-ocha, a former lecturer of Bangkok-based Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Arts, as well as other NCPO members and permanent secretaries of ministries, also attended the ceremony. General Prayuth later said he will propose his Cabinet line-up to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej within September 2014, promising to work for national and public interests with honesty and accountability, along with promoting national unity. The newly-appointed Thai prime minister vowed to solve national problems urgently, namely corruption, especially that in the public sector, and to further develop the nation in all dimensions, asking the general public to support the work of his government. The interim prime minister also stressed that the country's economic problems will be solved quickly and sustainably to prepare Thailand for the ASEAN Community (AC), among member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), by 2015.
