KAMMI Reminds New President Of His Pledges To The Public

Yogyakarta, Oct 21 (Antara) - The Association of Indonesian Muslim Students (KAMMI) of Yogyakarta has reminded the country`s new president Joko Widodo (Jokowi) of his political pledges. Jokowi had 66 promises to the public before the presidential election , Chairman of the Gajah Mada University branch of KAMMI Dzikri Asykarulloh said in a rally here on Monday. "Political promises are debts that have to be paid to the public. We hope the president could meet all his promises," Dzikri said here on Monday. He said Jokowi has to be more serious in doing his job than when he was governor of Jakarta. Jokowi was governor of Jakarta when he was named candidate by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle to contest the July 9 presidential election. Dzikri said he hoped Jokowi would not become a president that would think mostly of the interest of his political supporters. "I hope Jokowi as a president would be a fair leader for all Indonesian people," he said. He said KAMMI would be ready to fully support the government policy when it is for the interest of the people. "We don`t want to see image projection policy in the Jokowi government," he said. The previous regime has been accused of adopting policies intended more for image projection. The new president, who was installed on Monday is scheduled to announce his cabinet lined up on Tuesday. Jokowi said his cabinet would be dominated by professionals and candidates from political parties may not have executive position in the parties.
