Katulampa Sluice On Alert Level 1

Jakarta, Jan 15 (ANTARA) - The Katulampa Sluice in Bogor, is on alert level I following heavy rain over the region since Monday evening to Tuesday Morning, an official said. "At 07.30 am (local time) the water level of Katulampa Sluice Gate reached 210cm. This means the water debit of Ciliwung Hulu river is on Alert level I or the highest level," said spokesperson of the Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said here Tuesday. Therefore, flood, with higher water than last year`s, was predicted to hit some region along Ciliwung River at around 06.00-07.00 pm. According to Nugroho, the BNPB had instructed the Jakarta Mayors and the local authorities to stay alert and to monitor the flood potential and the mitigation as well. Some areas in East Jakarta are prone to flood. They are Cililitan, Cawang , Bidara Cina, Kampung Melayu, and Kebon Manggis. While in South Jakarta flood has high potential to hit Rawajati, Kalibata, Pengadegan, Kebon Baru and Bukit Duri. Moreover, some area in the Central Jakarta, such as Cikini, Petamburan and Cideng, are also predicted to be affected by the overflow Ciliwung River. Meanwhile in West Jakarta, Duri Kosambi, Rawa Buaya, North Kedoya and Cengkareng were also to be affected by flood. BNPB data showed some rivers in Jakarta with a high water level at 07.00 am. They are Pessanggrahan, 140cm (alert level I); Krukut Hulu 120cm (alert level IV); Depok, 160cm (alert level IV); Manggarai,770cm (alert level III); Cipinang Hulu, 110cm(alert level IV); Sunter Hulu, 70cm(alert level IV); Pulogadung, 550cm(alert level IV) and Pasar Ikan,185cm(alert level III). According to BNPB, rain is pouring in all over Greater Jakarta region on Tuesday morning.
