KAUST Participates in Global Tech Conference "LEAP"

Jeddah, February 3, 2022, SPA -- King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) is participating in the first edition of the Riyadh-hosted global technological conference LEAP, held under the theme “One Eye on the Stars”, through sponsoring the competition of startups “Rocket Fuel” and a discussion panel with Ericsson titled “5G: paving the way for industry”. Through its participation, KAUST seeks to provide an opportunity for the best innovators and people with promising commercial ideas in the conference to join it through attracting start-ups in the field of advanced technologies into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which would enhance the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s status and role as a hub for technology and innovation in the world, which can be seen clearly through the number of start-ups in the university participating in the conference, which exceeds 15 companies. KAUST allows attendees an opportunity to get acquainted with the international program it offers in the field of developing and supporting entrepreneurship, in addition to shedding light on the huge capabilities of the university and what it enjoys of advanced solutions and technologies and high-level academic research papers that make it at the top of national research institution concerned with diversifying the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s economy and realize the ambitious 2030 Saudi Vision. KAUST Vice President of Innovation and Economic Development Kevin Cullen said that the university’s participation is focused on attracting start-ups in the field of deep technologies, which KAUST enjoys a distinguished record in developing these companies, and engaging with prominent international speaker in constructive discussions that address top international issues and provide solutions for the big challenges that the humanity is going through. --SPA
