Kazakh PM: Azerbaijan important partner of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan, Astana, Nov. 21 / Trend / Azerbaijan is an important partner of Kazakhstan, Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Masimov said on Monday at a meeting with the heads of several leading media outlets of the CIS countries, who arrived in Astana to attend the Forum of European and Asian Media (FEAM). The meeting was also attended by Trend Agency Director General. "Azerbaijan is an important partner of Kazakhstan. It is important for us to cooperate with Azerbaijan on the Caspian Sea issues and hydrocarbons transportation," Masimov said commenting on dynamics of cooperation between the two countries. He said the traditional routes through which Kazakhstan transports hydrocarbons in full amount through Russia are very important for the country, but "other routes of transportation of energy resources and commodities, particularly, through Azerbaijan are very important for us". "We are trying to use also territory of other states, including China," Masimov added. He said Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are similar in terms of development dynamics, and the Kazakh side is interested in further cooperation. The Sixth Forum of European and Asian Media (FEAM) under the motto "20 years of independence: Media and Society" has today kicked off in Astana. The Forum, which will run until Nov. 22, is organized by Russian media holding RIA Novosti. The forum is attended by over 250 representatives of the CIS, Baltic States and Georgia, including media representatives and top managers of media industry of the post-Soviet space, experts and analysts. Azerbaijani media outlets are represented by Editor-in-Chief of the "Exo" newspaper Rauf Talishinsky, CEO of Trend Agency Ilgar Huseynov and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the "Zerkalo" newspaper Tofig Abbasov. The main topics of the FEAM-2011 are the peculiarities of mass media in the rapid development of information technologies and challenges in the information society.
