Kazakhstan launches new SUV production

Baku, Azerbaijan, July 17 By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: South Korean automobile manufacturer SsangYong Motor has launched Nomad SUV production in Kazakhstan, the company reported on July 16. "Nomad being as the first locally assembled model in Kazakhstan, it is especially meaningful in respect of Kazakhstan government's effort to build up its own national automobile industry and the headway made in economic cooperation between and Kazakhstan and South Korea," the company said. Nomad is a frame type SUV with modified design from Actyon and upgraded quality tailored to meet demands for the Central Asian region including Kazakhstan. With its plan to increase assembly capacity of Nomad up to 10,000 units per year, assembly plant in Kazakhstan will be operated as a production hub to supply vehicle not only to Kazakhstan, but also to neighboring CIS countries as well. SsangYong has exported Completely Built Up vehicles to Kazakhstan through business partnership with Allur Auto since 2003. Across four range of models, including the Korando, Actyon Sports, Kyron and the Actyon, the company sold a total of 3,600 units in Kazakhstan in 2013. "With Nomad Сomplete Knock Down project, we could increase sales in Kazakhstan and secure our production base in the CIS," Executive Vice President and Head of Sales & Marketing G.HQ of SsangYong Motor Choi Johng-sik said.
