KazTransGas-Tbilisi to return to Kazakh side in near future

Tbilisi, Georgia, Sept. 6 By Nana Kirtzkhalia - Trend: KazTransGas-Tbilisi will return to the Kazakh side in the near future, Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze told media Sept. 5. He added that representatives of his department met with the Kazakh side and once again explained the position due to the fact that the government returns Kaztransgaz company to them. "Once again, we explained our position and approach to the fact that we return the company," he said. "The problems associated with finance have been already solved with the Finance Ministry," the minister noted."When the work of the working group ends, the company will go to the board of the Kazakh side," Kaladze added. A delegation from Astana will arrive in Tbilisi in September which will hold the final negotiations for the final determination of the company's future. The further development of the company in Georgia will depend completely on this delegation. Kazakh Kaztransgaz state company acquired the Tbilgas Tbilisi gas distribution company for $12.5 million in 2006. In 2009 it introduced the government management due to the debts in the amount of 80 million Lari ($1 = 1.74 lari). After the change of power the Kazakh side hoped to return to the management of the company, but it has been almost for two years that the government of Georgia states that Kaztransgaz has not paid off the debt, so the company is still under the state control.
