Kerry Phones Elaraby To Discuss Issuing A Decision On Islamic State In The Arab League Council

Cairo / NINA / U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry telephoned with Nabil Elaraby, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States today with the start of the meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of Foreign Ministers held this afternoon under the chairmanship of Mauritanian Foreign Minister. The two sides discussed during their conversation ways to counter what is called the Islamic State "IS" and issuance a decision concerning the fight against this terrorist organization and to join the US alliance to fight it. Arab sources said that Kerry's conversation with Elaraby came to discuss taking a firm stand against the expansion of the "IS" in a number of Arab states like Iraq and Syria. This comes in the wake of the announcement by President Barack Obama to launch the so-called "Essential Pact " to fight and defeat the organization of the so-called Islamic state, after a meeting of NATO leaders in Wales, the United States hoped that some Arab countries join to this alliance. / End
