KHALKH GOL BATTLE EXHIBITS DISPLAYED

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ With over 200 exhibits including artifacts, photographs, videos, portraits of heroes, and weapons from the battlefield, an exhibition "Khalkh River 75" opened at Mongolian Army Museum on Thursday. The Khalkh River Battle, however called as “Nomohkhan Incident”, “Border Encountering”, “Battle of Nomunkhan”, had played a key role in securing Mongolia’s independence, territorial integrity, and welfare of the people. The exhibition consists of sections portraying the reasons led to Khalkh River Battle: the beginning--the battle in May, the air fight, in which the greatest in the world history number of war crafts had been involved, a general battle, its end, and a perpetuation of the great victory. The same day and with the same theme, an exhibition opened at Mongolian Art Gallery at initiative of the Ministry of Environment and under auspices of the Prime Minister. It shows over 50 artworks and sculptures, reserved in the State Treasury. They all relate to the country’s independence and many generations' battles for freedom. Afterwards, an exhibition of young artists on the same theme will open as well.
