Khoja screened at Manas State University of Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, February 12 (AzerTAc). The Azerbaijan Embassy in Kyrgyzstan and the Turkish-speaking states Support Foundation have co-organized a presentation of the Khoja, a movie by Azerbaijani filmmaker Vahid Mustafayev, at the Manas State University of Kyrgyzstan. The presentation ceremony was attended by heads and employees of diplomatic missions accredited to Kyrgyzstan, scientific, public and cultural figures, students and teachers of the Manas State University, members of Azerbaijani Diaspora, journalists and others. Opening the ceremony, rector of the Manas State University, Professor Sabahaddin Balchi spoke of atrocities committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani and Turks. He also expressed his gratitude to the film`s staff. Counselor of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyrgyzstan Ilham Zamanov provided information on the Khojaly massacre. “The Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly on February 26, 1992. Some 613 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1,000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. Eight families were annihilated, 130 children lost one parent, and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 peaceful residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.” The diplomat underlined the Khojaly genocide was given political and legal assessment after national leader Heydar Aliyev came to power in 1993. He also noted that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has special service in bringing the Khojaly realities to the world community. Vahid Mustafayev also made a speech at the ceremony stressing the film features documentary scenes by national hero Chingiz Mustafayev. The ceremony also saw speeches by vice-president of ANS Group of Companies Mirshahin Agayev, chairman of ANS Independent Broadcasting and Media Company Mais Mammadov, Kyrgyz Ombudsman Tursunbek Akun, film producer Bolat Shamshiyev and others. Chair of the Turkish-speaking states Support Foundation Nusrat Mammadov updated participants on projects implementing by the foundation. He also awarded Vahid Mustafayev with the “Heydar Aliyev” gold medal of the Turkish-speaking states Support Foundation. The film was demonstrated at the vent. Khoja is a tragedy and greatness of two loving hearts. It tells about the heroism of ordinary people. The main characters Yura and Mehriban were initially indifferent towards each other. But when the time comes to protect their land with weapon in their hands against the Armenian occupants, true feelings erupt in their hearts.
