Khon Kaen Police launches TUK TUK patroller

Khon Kaen, July 24 (TNA) - Police officer in Thailand's northeastern province of Khon Kaen launch a creative idea of TUK TUK patroller project, aiming to be intimate with local people while boosting more security in the area. Pol Col Pankrit Witchayacheewin, Superintendent at Muang Mai Provincial Police Station revealed that as a new police station in the area, they wanted to find a way to build up friendship with local people and to be able to conduct patrol in small alleys in order to provide security thoroughly. However, due to the limit budget, the police decided to use Tuk Tuk tricycles instead of car as Tuk Tuk is more affordable and more practical to drive into tiny lanes in local communities. TUK TUK, a local traditional vehicle, commonly seen around the city is adapted to be their patrol vehicles with an attachment of police officer logo. Pol Col Pankrit added that after TUK TUK patrolling car started, it has been widely and warmly accepted from local people in the area. (TNA)
