Killed Japanese man's son thanks Thai police

BANGKOK, October 22 (TNA) - The son of an old Japanese man killed in Thailand has thanked Thai police for their quick investigation into the disappearance of his father, saying despite the loss, he still has positive perspectives towards Thai people. Tetsuo Shimato, son of the killed Japanese teacher, 79-year-old Yoshinori Shimato, arrived at the Royal Thai Police Office in Bangkok on Wednesday to get updates on the case of his father, who had disappeared for a month and expressed the appreciation. During the meeting, Thailand's Acting Deputy National Police Chief Police Lieutenant General Ruangsak Jarit-ek, informed the killed Japanese teacher's son that National Police Chief Police General Somyos Pumpanmuang has expressed his deepest sorrow and promised to take decisive legal action against the wrongdoers. The son, who received the message through an interpreter with grief, said he was satisfied with the quick action of Thai police although it was hard for him to recover from the loss of his father. The son said he still felt good with Thai people because his father always told him he would like to live in Thailand until the end of his life because the Kingdom is a beautiful country. Two suspects, Pornchanok Chaiyapa and her husband, Somchai Kaewbangyang, were charged with the murder and body concealment. Police investigators reported that the murder was apparently aimed at the assets of the victim and they are looking for a criminal record of the two suspects, who have been detained and have confessed to committing the crime. According to Thailand's Acting Metropolitan Police Chief Police Major General Srivara Rangsiphramanakul, told reporters that the couple had cut apart the body of the Japanese victim in a toilet on the second floor of their house in Orchid Villa housing estate in Bangkok's neighbouring Samut Prakan Province and placed the body parts in bags and dumped in a canal.
