KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian King Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah and Queen Tuanku Hajah Haminah Monday expressed their sympathy for the victims of the floods ravaging several states. In a statement released by the Istana Negara (National Palace), Tuanku Abdul Halim urged Malaysians to pray for the disaster to end soon without any more harm to lives and property. "The King also expresses His Majesty's heartfelt appreciation to the Prime Minister (Najib Razak) and Deputy Prime Minister (Muhyiddin Yassin) as well as everyone else involved in providing assistance to and rescuing the flood victims in all the affected places," the statement said. Tuanku Abdul Halim urged that these efforts be continued and all those involved redouble efforts to help the flood victims. The King also urged all Malaysians to maintain a high level of harmony and goodwill and not circulate false news that could undermine harmony and goodwill when the country was faced with such a situation. The floods ravaging several states in the peninsula have forced the evacuation of more than 200,000 people. -- BERNAMA
