KPK To Open Regional Offices

Jakarta, Dec 16 (Antara) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will soon open its regional offices, with the first one being situated in Medan, North Sumatra, according to KPK Chairman Abraham Samad. "We will open the first KPK regional office in Medan for Sumatra Island, and for Kalimantan Island in Banjarmasin, and for Sulawesi Island in Makassar," Samad noted at the KPK building here on Tuesday. He said the new regional KPK offices will be in accordance with the division of the Commission`s work zone. "That is our plan. The KPK will have three work zones: western zone in Sumatra, central zone in Kalimantan, and eastern zone in Sulawesi," he noted. But, he remarked that the presence of KPK`s representative offices in these three major islands will depend on the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) as they oversee the budget allocation. Samad said if the government agrees on the plan, the KPK will compute the amount of funds required to set up the regional offices of the Commission.
