KPK Summon Minister Zaini As Witness In Graft Case

Jakarta, July 16 (Antara) - Minister for Development of Disadvantaged Regions Helmy Faishal Zaini arrived in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) office here on Wednesday to meet KPK`s summons as a witness in an alleged graft case concerning a sea dike project in Biak Numfor, Papua. "(I am here) as witness, later please," the minister said in a response to the press` questions, upon his arrival in KPK. Director of PT Papua Indah Perkasa Teddy Renyut has been named as a suspect in the case. "He is asked as witness in a case involving TR (Teddy Renyut)," Priharsa Nugraha, a spokesman of KPK, said. KPK on the same day was also scheduled to question Sabillilah Ardie, a special staff member of Minister Zaini. Sabillilah Ardie and his colleague in the ministry, Muamir Muin Syam, have been banned by KPK from traveling abroad. The anti-graft body recently raided the ministry office and seize some documents. The police caught Teddy Renyut and another suspect, Biak Numfor District Head Yesaya Sombuk, red handed at Acacia Hotel, Jakarta, on June 16, 2014. The police sized US$100 thousand when arresting them. The money was allegedly given by Renyut to Sombuk as a bribe in the sea dike construction project.
