Kuwait Agrees To Postpone The Deduction Of The Compensation On Iraq Another Year

BAGHDAD / NINA / Kuwait agreed to postpone the deduction of the compensation on Iraq for additional years from 2016 to 2017 because of the financial crisis and the additional expenses made by Iraq in the fight against terrorism. The spokesman of the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Jamal said in a statement that in response to the request of Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari, the Kuwaiti government decided to approve the postponement of the deduction of the amounts of compensation cut from Iraqi oil revenues another year, from 2016 to 2017, because of the sharp decline in oil prices, in addition to additional expenses made by Iraq in the fight against terrorism. The ministry, through its spokesman, expressed its highly appreciation to "this noble and meaningful stand, which expresses the depth brotherly relations between Iraq and Kuwait." It is mentioned that Kuwait decided last year to postpone the deduction of the compensation imposed on Iraq, because of the invasion of the former regime in the nineties of the last century. / End
