Kyiv hosts meeting on medical services in penitentiary system

Baku, February 11 (AzerTAc). A regional gathering on current state of medical services to prisoners has been held in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. The event was co-organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) regional office for Central Asia and Ukrainian State Penitentiary Service, and supported by the Yale University. Leading experts in the filed of prison medical services from the US, Ukraine as well as European and Middle Asia countries attended the meeting. Rick Altis, Professor of public health, epidemiology and medicine at the Yale University presented a project on the evaluation of diagnostics in penitentiary system. Azerbaijan was represented at the event by deputy chairman of the Penitentiary Service of Huseyn Alikhanov and deputy head of Central Medical Department Murad Suleymanov. Next meetings will be held in Georgia and Kazakhstan.
