Kyrgyz-Russia exercise involves combat aircraft from Russia’s Kant base

BISHKEK, May 25. /TASS/. Combat aircraft stationed in the city of Kant (Kyrgyzstan’s Chui Province) of the Russian Air Force base will be involved in Kyrgyz-Russian joint military exercise that has been launched in Kyrgyzstan on Monday, Deputy Commander of the Russian Central Military District Yevgeny Ustinov said. According to him, the exercise will involve Russian paratroopers and military of the National Guard of Kyrgyzstan. "Such a large-scale event with the arrival of the contingent is conducted for the first time," he said. "The main task is to study each other’s experience." Ustinov said that during the war games the two states’ troops will drill actions in mountainous terrain and also improve their weapons and reconnaissance training, including with the use of unmanned aerial vehicles. "We hope that the next joint exercise will take place in Russia’s territory," said the deputy commander. He said that several Russian military facilities are located in Kyrgyzstan. "Therefore, if the situation aggravates, we, jointly with our colleagues from Kyrgyzstan must be ready to ensure their security," he added. The manoeuvres will have two stages and will be completed on June 5. During the first stage that will last until June 2, the troops will be engaged in tactical and special training. The second stage will focus on practical training. In particular, theoretical airborne training will be held on May 26-27. On May 28, the military will have range practice that will include firing from small arms, grenade launchers, as well as live grenade throwing at the Ala-Too military training ground. In the following days, units of the Russian Airborne Force and the National Guard of Kyrgyzstan will drill air dropping. They will also be airlifted by helicopters to the Kant air base for the building storming training and drills in mountainous terrain. Read more
