Kyrgyzstan’s customs borders with EAEU to open on August 12 - Border Service

BISHKEK, August 10. /TASS/. The removal of the customs control posts on Kyrgyzstan’s border with the member-countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will take place on August 12, the country’s Border Service said on Monday. "Due to Kyrgyzstan’s full accession to the EAEU and the holding of procedures to cancel customs control at the Ak-Jol checkpoint the border control for individuals, vehicles and cargo crossing the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border will be temporarily suspended," the border service said. This is due to the fact that a solemn ceremony of opening the customs border between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan will be held at this checkpoint. The Kyrgyz authorities decided to join the association, which was called the Customs Union at the time, in the spring of 2011. Last December, an agreement on Kyrgyzstan's accession to the EAEU was signed in Moscow, and the protocols to the document were signed in May. In addition to Kyrgyzstan, the EAEU comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia. Of all member-countries of the union, Kyrgyzstan has a common border with Kazakhstan only. Read more
