Kyrgyzstan becomes full member of Eurasian Economic Union from August 6 - Eurasian Economic Commission

MOSCOW, August 5. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan becomes a full member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) from August 6, the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) said in statement on Wednesday. "On August the 6th the treaty on Kyrgyzstan’s accession to the EAEU comes into force. Kyrgyzstan becomes the fifth full member of the Eurasian Economic Union alongside with Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia,"- according the statement. The treaty on the accession of Kyrgyzstan to the EAEC consists of several parts: the main part, which states the accession of the republic to the economic union, stipulates basic conditions and sets the order of the document implementation, and the three protocols to the treaty. Kyrgyzstan decided to join the Customs Union in the spring of 2011. The agreement on its accession to the EAEC was signed in December 2014 in Moscow. In May, in Moscow, the parties signed last protocols to the agreement. In late May, Kyrgyzstan completed all the internal procedures required for the entry into the EAEC. In July, the parliaments of all member-states of the EAEU ratified the agreement on Kyrgyzstan’s accession. Starting from Thursday, August 6th, when Kyrgyzstan officially becomes a member of the EAEC, all customs posts with the Kazakh-Kyrgyz border should be removed. Kazakhstan is the only country of the EAEU which shares the border with Kyrgyzstan. Read more
