Kyrgyzstan plans to become full-fledged member of the Eurasian Economic Union by May 9 - Kyrgyzstan’s president

STRELNA, March 16. /TASS/. Kyrgyzstan plans to become a full-fledged member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) by May 9, President Almazbek Atambayev said on Monday at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "Of course, we want to manage [to complete the process of accession to EEU] by May 9," Atambayev said. The Kyrgyzstani president said that the meeting with Putin was useful "to discuss questions that have been accumulating." At talks with Atambayev, Putin offered to discuss "smooth accession" of Kyrgyzstan to EEU and the bilateral agenda. "Of course, we can’t omit talking about what is going on in integration processes, where we are in terms of Kyrgyzstan’s smooth accession to the Union [EEU]," Putin said. "The ultimate goal is to adapt the Kyrgyzstani economy to the economy of Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus," the Russian leader stressed. "These are definitely solvable tasks," he said. "The sooner we do it, the better," Putin added. The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is an international organization for regional economic integration that came into force on January 1, 2015. EEU was founded by Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan and later joined by Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. Kyrgystan signed an agreement on accession in December, 2014. By May, Bishkek plans to solve all technical problems and become a full-fledged member of the organization. Read more
