Labour skill development for tourism growth in Andaman provinces

PHUKET, Aug 9 (TNA) – Labour Ministry gears up to improve labour skills in Andaman coastal province to serve the expansion of tourism industry. Labour Minister Gen Adul Sangsingkaeo presided over the opening of a seminar on personnel development in tourism and service businesses in Andaman coastal provinces at a hotel in Phuket. 300 representatives from state agencies and business operators, professional organizations, labour skill development network attended the seminar to find measures against labour shortage in tourism industry. The minister said the Andaman coastal provinces earn the country’s highest tourism income of about 364 billion baht, particularly popular tourist destination, Phuket. Under the 2018-2021 development plan of the southern Andaman coastal provinces, there is demand for more labour in the tourism, construction sectors and in the fishing industry. Phuket is implementing the policy to become a hub for cruise liner and marine sports. There are 38 ports in Phuket and five ports serve 1,500 cruise liners and yatches each year. (TNA)
