Lady parking areas to be provided at six Thai airports

BANGKOK, August 5 (TNA) - Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) will provide “Lady Parking” areas at six airports nationwide, starting from August 12, 2014, marking the National Mother's Day. AOT President Makin Petplai told journalists of the update on Tuesday, saying that the move follows AOT's earlier improvement of facilities at all Thai airports nationwide to safely serve persons with disabilities (PWDs) and the elderly. At Thailand's main Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Makin stated, its "Lady Parking" zone will be provided on the whole third floor of its parking building 2, in which 450 cars can be accommodated and there will be female security guards on duty. As there are about 100,000 users daily, only women travelling alone or with children aged not older than 12 years will be allowed to use the lady parking area at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport, which will be opened on a trial basis on August 7, before its inauguration on August 12. According to the AOT chief, the “Lady Parking” zones have also been prepared at Mae Fah Luang International Airport in Chiang Rai Province in the Thai North and at Phuket International Airport in the Thai South and will be inaugurated on August 12, while preparations at Bangkok's Don Mueang Airport on the third floor of its seven-floor parking building to accommodate 200 cars are underway and expected to be opened for public use in the near future, so are those at Hat Yai International Airport in the Thai South and Chiang Mai International Airport in the Thai North.
