Lamerd Tazieh photo assoc. top work donated to Culture Min.

Shiraz, Dec 14, IRNA – The photo association of Lamerd, donated the top work of the county’s Tazieh photo exhibition to visiting Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati on Saturday. The photo, taken by Mahdi Jahan Afroozian, depicts a mother offering water to a person who plays the role of Hazrat Abolfazl (AS), the brother of Imam Hussein (AS), in a Tazieh. Tazieh as an Iranian national and religious dramatic musical performance recounts religious events, historical and mythical stories and folk tales through poetry, recitation, music, song and motion. It narrates the story of martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in Karbala with its own specific style and rituals. During the exhibition’s opening ceremony, the culture minister had said that photos, as a media, can easily help registering the Ashura epic. The national Lamerd Tazieh photo exhibition was house to 112 photos, taken by 27 Iranian and foreign photographers on Ashura. More than 900 works were submitted to the expo’s secretariat, of which 27 were chosen and displayed. Lamerd is a county in Fars Province in Iran./end
