Landslide Damages 25 Houses In Tasikmalaya District

Tasikmalaya, W Java, July 12 (Antara) - A landslide triggered by heavy rains caused damage to 25 houses at Sukasari village in West Java`s Tasikmalaya district on Thursday night. Eight of the houses were damaged seriously and 17 others lightly, spokesman of the Tasikmalaya district disaster mitigation body (BPBD) said on Friday. No fatalities or injuries were reported. All victims of landslide were taking refuge at their relatives` houses, he said. He said 46 houses were threatened following the landslide. The residents whose houses were threatened should stay alert for subsequent landslides, he said. A number of BPBD officers, along with military and police personnel were deployed to the scene to help landslide victims.
