Large batch of illegal migrants nabbed along border

TAK, THAILAND, July 28 (TNA) - Nearly 90 illegal migrant workers have been nabbed by a combined Thai security force in Mae Sot of Thailand's northwestern Tak Province along the border with Myanmar. In a pre-dawn operation on Thursday, the combined Thai security force, comprising over 100 local immigration police, border patrol police, soldiers and defence volunteers, cordoned off a large border community of migrant workers located next to a cargo port along the Moei River in Mae Sot District's Ta Sai Luad locality. The illegal migrant workers tried to flee to the neighbouring country while seeing the Thai security force, but the combined security officers managed to arrest and detain 89 of them who will be repatriated to their home country. The Thai authorities also searched the site, developed to be a permanent accommodation and equipped with full facilities. The operation was in line with the Thai government’s policy on preventing all forms of crime in the country. (TNA)
