BANGKOK, March 27 (TNA) - The laying of foundation stone for the new Bangkok’s Din Daeng flats is expected this August while most of its current tenants have agreed on building new flats at the same compound, according to Social Development and Human Security Minister Police General Adul Sangsingkaew. Officials have inspected the identity of room owners of Din Daeng flats and created understand among tenants of nearly 6,000 rooms of 72 buildings about the government’s determination to demolish the 60-year-old low-cost flats and replace them with new structures. Up to 87 per cent of the total tenants of the Din Daeng flats agreed on the government’s plan to construct new buildings while 76 per cent agreed on the plan to build each room with a total space of 33 square metres. Minister Adul said his ministry is now submitting the proposal to the National Economic and Social Development Board because of the huge investment required for constructing new flats before it is put forward for a cabinet consideration.
