Lebanese Justice Minister Hails Qatar's Support to Lebanon

Beirut, May 24 (QNA) - Lebanese Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi hailed the State of Qatar's support for his country at various levels. In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) in Beirut, the Minister of Justice said that Lebanese economy will not rise without the support of the GCC countries, pointing to the existence of hundreds of thousands of Lebanese families and youth who are working in the Gulf and receiving good treatment. He said that there is no strategic threat to the security situation in Lebanon, noting at the same time to the crisis in Lebanon at the political level in the light of the presidential vacancy since a year ago. Lebanese Justice Minister stressed that Lebanon adhere to the Arab identity, refusing any intervention from regional countries in his country's decisions. Regarding the Operation Decisive Storm launched by Arab states and led by Saudi Arabia against the Houthis, Rifi considered that the operation was an important step to suppress the criminality of Houthi's group against the Yemeni people. About the risk of the armed groups from Syria and who are on the border on the outskirts of the towns of Arsal and Ras Baalbek, the Lebanese Justice Minister said that he sees no threat to Lebanon because the army is doing their duty with great professionalism to face insurgents. In this context, he noted that the Lebanese army has the capacity to defend its borders and has alone the right to defend Lebanese territories, stressing that the security situation in Lebanon is acceptable compared with neighboring regions from Syria to Iraq and Yemen. He stressed in his interview with QNA, that he is against the defense of any illegal Lebanese armed forces on its borders, saying that the Lebanese army is able alone to protect Lebanon's security. He called on all parties in the country to return to the authority of the Lebanese state, stressing the importance of the extension of the security forces control over all Lebanese territories. The Justice Minister declined at the conclusion of his remarks Lebanon's dependency on any regional alliances and projects. (QNA)
