Lebanese Officials Commend Qatar's Role in Tackling Arab Issues

Beirut, December 16 (QNA) - Lebanese officials have commended Qatar's role in tackling the most important issues on the Arab arena. This came in the meetings held by Qatar's Ambassador to Lebanon HE Ali bin Hamad Al Marri with Lebanese officials and dignitaries representing the currents of political and national blocs, since he took over his duties as an ambassador last November. A statement issued by the Qatari Embassy in Beirut said HE Ambassador Al Marri met with Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, House Speaker Nabih Berri, Najib Mikati head of the caretaker government, and Tammam Salam President-designate to form a government . HE the Ambassador also met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Adnan Mansour, Defence Minister Fayez Ghosn, Interior and Municipalities Minister Marwan Charbel and Former Prime Minister and MP Fouad Siniora . HE the Ambassador also met with MP Michel Aoun who is also head of the Free Patriotic Movement, and the President of Change and Reform Parliamentary Bloc , and Walid Jumblatt MP and head of the Progressive Socialist Party who is also head of the National Struggle Front, Dr. Samir Geagea, chief executive of the Lebanese Forces, General Jean Kahwagi Lebanese army commander, Brigadier General Ibrahim Basbous, Acting Director General of the Internal Security Forces, and Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim, Director General of the Lebanese General Security. HE Ambassador Al-Marri also visited Patriarch Mar Bechara Rahi, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Grand Mufti of Lebanon Mohammad Qabbani, Sheikh Abdul Amir Qabalan, deputy head of the Supreme Islamic Council, and also met with Sheikh Naim Qassem, deputy secretary-general of Hezbollah. Discussions during the meetings dealt with bilateral ties between the State of Qatar and the Lebanese Republic. (QNA)
