Lebanon increases security measures in areas densely populated by Turkish citizens

Azerbaijan, Baku, August 13 /Trend A.Taghiyeva/ The security forces in Lebanon have increased security and protection measures in areas densely populated by Turkish citizens, Anadolu agency reported on Tuesday. In addition, the security measures were increased in the areas where Turkish companies' buildings, hotels are situated and where the Turkish citizens live. The corresponding decision was taken after the abduction of two Turkish Airlines (Turk Hava Yollari) pilots last Friday in Beirut. After this incident, the Turkish Foreign Ministry advised its citizens to refrain from travelling to Lebanon. The pilot and co-pilot of Turkish Airlines, (both Turkish citizens), were kidnapped by unknown persons while they were heading to a hotel in Beirut by bus. Responsibility for the kidnapping was claimed by a previously unknown group, Zuwar Al Rida. At the moment the whereabouts of the pilots is being established. The Lebanese authorities declared that the pilots are likely to be released soon. Do you have any feedback? Contact our journalist at agency@trend.az
