Legal action to be taken against inciters

Manama, June 30 (BNA): Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa said the perilous incidents in the region necessitate the highest degrees of national responsibility from all people according to their position to prevent the exploitation of the religious pulpit for any purpose other than its noble goals. The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments in coordination with both Endowment Directorates and the relevant bodies constantly monitor the activities at places of worshipping, he added. "Legal action will be taken against anybody implicated in the incitement of hatred or sedition," the minister stressed. He urged religious scholars and orators in mosques to assume their role and responsibilities at this phase which requires taking all the necessary precautions, emphasising that terrorism of all sorts constitutes the biggest enemy of religion. The minister said terrorist groups seek to undermine the stability and destroy the accomplishments, values and national fabric of countries, hamper the Islamic unity of ranks, and stir sectarianism to serve their evil purposes. The minister called for keenness on the content of religious discourse, appreciating full consequences and keeping the sanctity of religious pulpits away from politicking, partisan strife and narrow interests.
