Legal action to be taken against people releasing baseless reports on Thai rice

BANGKOK, July 15 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has asked people not to forward groundless reports on bagged Thai rice contaminated with hazardous chemical substances online, as it undermines confidence in the Thai grains, vowing to take legal action against those who continue releasing such the baseless reports. Yingluck insisted on Monday that she needs cooperation from all parties in the society on the issue because rice cultivation has remained the main source of living of the majority of Thai people and Thai rice has been internationally-recognized for its quality. The prime minister suggested that rumors need to be verified because sometimes problems do not occur in production processes at factories but happen slightly during handling, such as holes in bags. The prime minister warned if such the negative rumors about Thai rice continued, her government would have to take legal action against all those involved in order to protect damaged parties and the reputation of the Thai rice.
