Lifting S-300 ban proves bilateral will to boost ties

Tehran, April 14, IRNA – Iran's defense minister said Russian presidential order to remove ban on providing S-300 aerial defense missile system to Iran shows the firm determination of leaders of both countries for promotion of cooperation in all fields. Referring to the agreement signed between defense ministries of Iran and Russia and negotiations on settlement of S-300 contract which was held in Tehran, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said expansion of bilateral relations with neighboring countries could play an effective role in establishment of stability and sustained security in the region. He added that infra-regional threats and spreading Tekfiri terrorist groups activities have increased necessity of expansion and deepening the cooperation and would serve as an axis of consultations and cooperation between Iran and Russia. The Kremlin Palace on Monday announced that President Vladimir Putin in a decree has cancelled prohibition of delivering S-300 anti-air missile system to Iran. Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu travelled to Tehran last January to sign defense agreements.
