Lighting Of GBK Stadium Saves 50 Percent Of Power : ESDM

JAKARTA, Jan 16 (Antara) - The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry (ESDM) has released facts and data showing that lighting in the post-renovation Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium could save 50 percent of power energy. Based on the data from the ministry cited by Antara on Monday, the stadium is illuminated by 3,500 lux lights which are three times brighter than the previous lights. The new lighting is 50 percent more efficient as it uses LED lights with 610 sets of lights connected to a powerful 80,000 watt PMPO sound system to make the movement of the lights can be made in tune with the music being played. The new face of GBK is supported by a new system of electricity supply. The stadium features a solar panel with a capacity of 420 kWp which is capable of generating an average of 1,470 kWh per day. Complementing the main source of stadium energy from solar power, GBK electricity is also connected to a power source from state-owned electricity company PT PLN and a generator. Compared to the previous lighting that used metal halide technology and took about 15 minutes to warm up before it could be turned on, now the LED lightning could function as interactive dynamic lighting. President Joko Widodo through his Facebook account mentioned that GBK is one of the sport stadiums with the best lighting in the world. In addition to being environmentally friendly as it uses solar power generation as its main source of power, GBK has also used the highest standard of LED lights acknowledged by the World Football Federation (FIFA) and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). Several improvements made to support the Asian Games from August 18 to September 2 include reduction of regular seats at the main stadium from more than 90 thousand to 76,127 single seats, to accommodate another 200 seats for visitors with disabilities. GBK's main stadium currently has four dressing rooms each with a coach room, lounge area, dressing room, bathroom, shower sink, a tub with hot and cold water options and a massage room. GBK is also completed with a comfortable media room to support news coverage and publicity of the Asian Games 2018.
