ALOR SETAR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- Some 447 logs worth RM370,000 were seized in a raid at a timber factory in Kampung Bongor, Baling near here Thursday.

A state forest department spokesman said a team from the South Kedah District Forest Office Special Action Unit raided the factory at about 12.30 pm.

"Initial investigations revealed that the logs were illegally felled and no duties were paid on them," he said in a statement on Friday.

A 57-year-old man believed to be the factory owner has been detained to facilitate investigations.
